Defending Democarcy because Every Voice Matters

Democracy only works when the people’s voices are honored, not manipulated, diluted, or silenced. I am proudly pro-democracy because when democracy is weakened, everyday people pay the price. Fair representation is not abstract. It directly affects affordability, opportunity, and quality of life.

That conviction led me to actively oppose Indiana’s proposed redistricting bill that would have weakened fair maps and locked in political power at the expense of working families. When politicians choose their voters, communities lose leverage and policies become less responsive to rising costs in housing, healthcare, childcare, and education. I worked alongside community leaders and advocates to defeat that effort because democracy should serve people, not protect power.

I also publicly stood for democratic accountability by participating in No Kings rallies, affirming a simple truth:  Indiana is governed by the people, not political royalty or unchecked authority. Transparency, fairness, and accountability are essential if government is going to work for everyday Hoosiers.

As your State Senator, I will defend voting rights, oppose gerrymandering, and fight for a democracy that puts Affordability First, because when representation is fair, government listens, and families have a real chance to thrive.
