Housing & Homelessness: From Crisis to Stability
Indiana’s housing crisis is pushing too many families, seniors, and workers into instability and homelessness. Rents are rising faster than wages, affordable units are disappearing, and emergency shelters are being stretched beyond capacity. This moment demands leadership grounded in both experience and compassion.
As former president of the Blueprint Council to End Homelessness, I worked alongside service providers, faith leaders, and policymakers to advance data-driven, collaborative solutions that move people from crisis to stability. That experience made one thing clear: housing must be treated as essential infrastructure, not charity.
As your State Senator, I will fight for:
Increased state investment in affordable and workforce housing
Eviction prevention and rental assistance to keep families housed
Permanent supportive housing for individuals experiencing chronic homelessness
Strong local partnerships and local control, so communities can lead solutions that fit their needs
Stable housing strengthens families, improves health outcomes, and supports economic mobility. When we invest in housing, we invest in people, and that is how we build stronger, more resilient communities.
