Smart Growth Without Sacrifice

Hoosiers deserve economic growth that is responsible, sustainable, and rooted in community values. Eagle Creek Park and the Eagle Creek Reservoir are among Central Indiana’s most vital assets, protecting our drinking water, preserving green space, and sustaining quality of life across the region.

Projects like the LEAP Innovation District must meet the highest environmental standards, especially when they pose potential risks to Eagle Creek and surrounding communities. I oppose any development that endangers our water supply, weakens environmental protections, or bypasses meaningful local input in the name of speed or profit.

The rapid expansion of large-scale facilities, such as data centers, raises additional concerns around water usage, energy demand, and long-term infrastructure costs. Any proposal that draws heavily on public resources while offering limited community benefit is unacceptable and should not move forward. I will oppose data center developments that threaten our water supply, strain local utilities, or shift costs onto residents without meaningful public input and clear public benefit. Any development claiming public support must also commit to strong labor standards, including union jobs, prevailing wages, and worker protections—because economic growth that doesn’t lift workers is not real progress.

As State Senator, I will fight for science-based decision-making, transparency, and local control. Economic growth should strengthen our communities, not sacrifice public health, environmental stewardship, or our children’s future.
